"build a chapel here"

On 2nd March 1858, 1,650 people were gathered at the Grotto.  Bernadette knelt down, made the sign of the Cross, and recited her rosary. Her face lit up - the Lady was there.  She went to the spring to drink and wash.  The lady then said:  “Go and tell the priests to build a chapel here and that people should come in procession.”

In 2023 the Lourdes Authorities ask us to reflect on the request that our Lady gave for a chapel to be built. Our Archdiocesan Pilgrimage is planned from Friday 7 July to Friday 14 July 2023.  We will update this page as we progress towards Lourdes 2023.

In 2022 our helper numbers were lower than normal.  It was the first trip since 2019 and we were starting the process of building the pilgrimage back up.  In 2023 we are keen to increase our helper numbers so that we can care for more supported pilgrims.  We are reaching out to existing helpers from previous years, and we would also like to attract new helpers.

We invite anyone who wishes to be a helper to complete the helper information form so that we have the details that we need to ensure all checks, preparation, and training are completed.

We understand that it may be too early to complete this at present, but we encourage those who plan to be a helper to complete the form as soon as possible by clicking on the button below:
