It was with great sadness that we learned
of the death of Peter Gorman - one of our best known and loved
Brancardiers. Peter died on 17th July after a short battle with cancer.
His funeral was held on Saturday 21st
July in Holy Cross Church, Edinburgh. The number of people who came to
pay their respects was a sign of the regard in which Peter was held -
both the Church itself and the Church Hall were filled to capacity with
mourners. Despite the sadness of the occasion, there was also laughter
as stories of Peter's full life were recounted - during the Mass and
afterwards in the Hall. In addition to Peter's work in Lourdes, he was
also a longstanding member of Holy Cross Parish community, and a founder
member of Forth Children's Theatre.
Peter will be much missed by all his
Lourdes colleagues - future pilgrimages will never be quite the same -
however we rejoice in the knowledge that Peter was able to come to
Lourdes as a helper right up to last year. As we travel to Lourdes in
future years we can be assured of Peter's presence and guidance as he
watches us from Heaven.
The Hospitalité committee would like to
extend its condolences to Jean and all of Peter's family and friends.
May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in
peace. Amen.
Our
Lady of Lourdes - pray for him.
Saint Bernadette - pray for him
